Often such protective orders are against spouses or romantic partners, but at other times, these orders protect against other family members or third parties involved in your life by virtue of past or present intimate relationships.

These orders can protect you, your children and your pets. Sometimes our clients need “stay away” Orders of Protection where the court directs your abuser to stay away from you, your work, your home and your school. Other times, our clients need “Restraining” Orders of Protection, where the abuser is no longer permitted to contact you. In some circumstances, clients need a more fundamental Order of Protection that prevents harassment, menacing, reckless endangerment, intimidation, unlawful dissemination of intimate images, and other crimes.
